posted 28 Apr 2013, 03:14 by Newcastle Gaa
The All-Ireland finals of Scór Sinsear were held in Derry on Saturday last April 27th. The Newcastle club was represented by Sinéad Grant in the Amhránaíocht Aonair or Solo singing competition. After giving an outstanding performance on the night, the tension was high as the results were announced. There were scenes of great joy when Sinéad was announced as the All-Ireland champion. This is a huge achievement for Sinéad personally and also for her family, Brigid, Pat and Jamie. Sinéad’s victory brought the 7th All-Ireland Scór title to the club, the last being the Ballad Group in 1996. She is the second singer to win the title after Mary Nugent in 1992 as well as the 4 set dancing titles won by the club. Congratulations Sinéad, we are all very proud of you. Congratulations also the Noel Joyce and the JK Brackens set dancers on winning their titles also and bringing 3 All-Ireland titles back to Tipperary.
