Cahir House Hotel was the venue on Saturday night last, May 11th for the club’s first Jigs n’ Reels fundraising venture. A very large crowd were present to support both the club and the dancers for all their work and courage on performing. A big thank you to our dancers - Dónal, Catherine, Barry, Shirley, Darren, Rosie, James, Bridget, Johnny, Ciara, Caoimhín, Shauna, Mattie, Sinéad, Michael and Treasa, for the huge effort they put into the event. Thanks also to Kevin McCarra, Joseph and Kevin Corbett, Séamus McGrath, Séamus Hayes for their help. As each dancer and celebrity appeared with their routines, they brought their own style of dance and humour to the stage, none more so than Darren and Rosie who won the award for most entertaining. The overall verdict of the judges was unanimous with Bridget McCarra and James McGrath winning the title. In second place were Dónal and Catherine. All the dancers received a medal for taking part in the event. The judges, whom we thank for their deliberations, were Monnie Hallahan, Leah Skelly and Emmet Prendergast. The interval entertainment was provided by traditional group House 65 and they were accompanied by international dancers Kathy, Shelley and Peter. The night was completed with performances from 2 All-Ireland Scór champions Sinéad Grant in Solo Singing and Noel Joyce from Clonmore in Recitiation. A lot of work was involved in putting the night together and great credit is due to Karen, Kathy and Mary for this. All those who attended thoroughly enjoyed the night’s entertainment and are looking forward to the next instalment already!
