Another good result for our U14s girls today coming away with a win 4-6 to 1-4 against Aughrim this morning at home.

The wind was strong and the Newcastle girls took advantage in the first half with some good scores. Elsa with 2 goals was a nuisance to the Aughrim defence all day, Carrie-Mae took advantage of a mix up in an Aughrim goal kick to win it and riffle a shot into the top corner of the goal but pick of the bunch was Kate Dunne’s-  who collected the ball in the half back line and drove all the way up cutting through all who tried to stop her to score a brilliant goal. Heidi up front seemed well up for it today winning ball after ball up there and was in the thick of it all day. Isabelle was very unlucky to have her goal disallowed and brought back for a free but worked very hard all day and still managed to get on the score sheet regardless 

The defence had little to do in the 1st half but that changed in the second half as Aughrim took advantage of having the wind to get some good scores. As with all the games that the girls are involved in it was very physical all game and nothing said that more than caitlin who threw herself in front of a Aughrim girl through on goal the make a mighty block meters from our goal and cleared the ball.

2 more games left to play in the league in the coming weeks so lets hope the girls can continue the good run of results to finish off their league campaign.
